Stock Sound Pod Lights not working

Someone please help me before I lose it. I am putting a new sound system in my rig and dispite all the time and bs i had to deal with with putting this thing in the right way, the easy part was "suppose" to be the light hook up. Now all the speakers are set up and everything is ready to go the only thing i have to hook up is the light to the sound bar, so i figured wth ill take the 4 pin connecter that was connected to the sound bar and remove it from the pod and splice the wire so that there is no fuss and i can use the stock connection for the sound bar. Well before i started taking crapp apart i hook the sound pods up to make sure they still work and they don't. I have looked everywhere to find a solution but there is nothing like this. The lights on the dash work the lights that are on my rear view mirror work the fuses #4 and 12 all are intact and not blown. I attempted starting it didn't help. I checked to see if there was any power running to the 4 pin connector and there is nothing. The radio is not in yet but that should have no affect on the the actual lights in the pod, and if it does.... then what the hell do i hook these lights up to? and why would the lights be hooked up to the head unit?

Thank you ahead of time for your help. I am getting frustrated because summers is winding down and i havn't even takenin it to the beach yet this year because this is taking to damn long!! lol

did you test all of the fuses and make sure none of the wires are broken?

Are you talking about the stock sound bar? And, if so, what year Wrangler?
Because, something isn't making sense to me. In my stock sound bar(1997) there is one overhead light. If you have the correct wiring and looking for power to the sound bar lights, is the door open and the lights under the dash working? You would have to open the door for the wire to get power, since it is switched, or you could turn the headlight switch to turn them on.

What's a sound bar?

I know what a light bar is (but I haven't seen one since the 70's)

Is there a door switch on these Jeeps? That's news to me. Mine turns on when I turn on the switch and when I turn off the engine and that's it.

what do you mean by switch? There is a pressure switch like any other car there is out there that completes the circuit when it is not compressed (or pushed in) by the door being closed.

Buttons rather than switches.

Mine has two door buttons but I dont know if they work or not. My lights do not come on when I open the door with the key and the overhead light does not come on with the use of the key but the key does activate the light under the passenger side of the dash. Only the steering column switch works the overhead light on the sound bar on mine. I have a 2002 that I've had for 5 years and nothing has changed all that time so if it's broken I never knew it.

Has fuse #4 been pulled. That's the door switch disconnect. You pull it when you take the doors off so the light does not come on. Put the fuse in and the lights come on when you open the door.

He says fuse 4 is intact and not blown on his first post

Do the pods have bulbs under the white light covers and if so are the bulbs burnt out?

Is there a ground issue with the pod lights?

If the bulbs are good and their connections are clean check the following wires at pod plugs body side once pod side is unplugged

Pink/White should have plus 12 if not check fuses 15 and 26

Yellow should have a ground when a door is open if not recheck fuse 4 and check is some nimrod unplugged the connectors at the door switched.

If all that checks ok with pod plug unplugged take pod side of plug and connect plus 12 to pink white and ground to yellow and verify pod light lights up

There is no power running from the body to the pods.. i checked fuses 15 and 26 not blown

https://drive.google.com/folderview?...ViNGJkYTFmYzUw

Page 26 of 40 has the wiring diagram.. am i missing something here i would imagine that the left and right dome lamps is the spot where my problem is at i not seeing where there may be a problem with the connection? I did test 4 pin connector while the car was on and door open and there is no power running to the connector. Which leads me to believce that there is something that there is something really stupid stopping these lights from not working.

oh and the door switches work because the courtesy lights at the floor panels come on as well as the lights on the rear view mirror. its my understanding that when the #4 fuse is pulled the lights only come on for about 4 or 5 seconds and then shut off, mine stay on for as long as the door is open.

Also i am really sorry for taking up this much time and appreciate all the help guys thank you very much.

With door open which of the two wires are working on car side

The yellow is or is not grounded

And the pink white does or does not have plus 12

You can use a meter or a test light but we first need to figure which wire is the problem

with a test light neither of the 2 wires you mentioned have any power.. which leads me to believe that there is a fuse that is blown.. but all fuses were checked.. 4, 15, 26, 1.. i really dont want to have to follow the wire all the way back.. this is going to be a nightmare..

At this point i would just run new wires. Not that difficult. Tap your driver's side floor courtesy light.

So there is an interruption to bat 12 plus to pink white either find it or bypass it but make sure the voltage you supply has at least one fuse near the source ( battery)

Did you verify that the yellow does connect to ground when door is open?

Two likely possibilities
Someone used that bat 12 for something else like a cb and cut and spliced
Someone was worried that bat plus 12 would short to ground so after removing pods they cut it and taped it possibly where it enters roll bar padding

Are you tapping into the stock harnesses? If so, then all you need is the schematic for the Sound bar(pod) diagram with the wire colors. Then you can test the wires and see which one is power and which is ground for the lights. Of course, once the doors are open, you will get power to the power wire. Once you have determined which wire is the power wire, you can then find out if it is faulty. It is really quite simple. Especially if you have the stock wiring harness, and can find the wiring schematic.
