Strange noise from XSMN - HELP!

I have a 2002 X with the NV3550. Just recently I started to hear a squelling from under the car. I replaced the serpentine belt and checked all the pullies off of the accessories. Squell didn't go away and got worse. Now it is making a rattling sound and the pitch changes when I push in the clutch. With the clutch all the way in it is barely noticeable. But with the clutch all the was out ( disengaged ) it sounds like chitty-chitty-bang-bang. The HYD clutch resovior is full and the clutch does not feel like it is slipping. I have 98,000 mi. on it ( got it when it had 46,000 mi ) and I know the original owner only used it to pull a small fishing boat. I have limited experience with clutches but is the throw-out bearing going out? Any ideas would be great, thanks

Sounds like a throw out bearing.

You are in the same bout with me. I have 90,000 on the OEM clutch.

This is from Jerry.

Luk, who also makes the OE clutch which can easily exceed 200K miles. You can buy an entire Luk clutch kit for $150 from Dial-A-Clutch - Your LuK Clutch Kit Specialist which includes the clutch disk, pressure plate, throwout bearing, pilot bearing, and pilot shaft.

Don't waste your $$$ on Luk's ProGold which is aimed at truck applications and it can be noisy in a TJ.

Saint thanks, here's a question for you! I am running 33x12.5 right now and plan to go to 35x12.5 in the near future. Instead of putting a OE clutch back in, would something like a centerforce II be better do to the bigger tires? Just curious.......

I'm running 35 and 4.56 gears. I was thinking of doing the Centerforce too. I'm going to do the Luk Clutch and up grade my Slave Cylinder, Stainless Steel Clutch Hose, Clutch Fork, Clutch Pivot Release, and Master Cylinder

Saint, when you say upgrade, what are the upgrades to those components? I've heard of a steel slave cylinder but looked and couldn't find one. And what is there for a master cylinder?

The Master will be OEM but all the others will be upgrade. Go Quadrate.com
