Straps?? Where do they go?

I went thru my owner's manual and can't find where these 2 straps go.

I had two bags in the glove box of the Jeep when I took delivery. One bag was a loop with a snap at the end, I figured out where these went.

But, I have a set of two straps that I have no clue where they go. In the owner's manual, it shows some straps if you have a Sunrider roof, but I don't have one.

Do you have to strap down the roof when it's folded down??? That's really the only use I could see for these straps.

Each set has one strap with a loop on the end and the other strap has a buckle on the end.........Help!

We had some of those too. I think the majority of them flew out of the Jeep. I believe they are tie downs for the cargo area, and or, to fasten your windshield to the hood, if you ever drop your windshield.

They are for the top, the vcr the dealer should give you when you bought it tells about the straps.

That's where these were, in the glove box.

I guess I should watch the tape, just haven't had time (and I have to find a VCR). You think DC would start putting instructions on a DVD instead

One of those straps is for the back seat. When it's folded up, there's a post on the seat bottom. It's normally in the latch when the seat is down. Wrap the strap around the roll bar, stick one end through the loop on the other end, then put the free end loop over the post on the seat. It keeps the seat from tipping/falling back when you pull out from a stop.

I think the other strap is for the windshield if it's folded down.

I know my 97 owners manual explains what they're for, I'm just too lazy to dig it out and look it up.

if its a newer jeep (05-06) the rear seat has a spring to keep the seat from falling over backward, those straps can be used to tie down the rear seatbelts when topless to keep them from flapping around. They can also be used to tie things down in cargo area/fold the windsheild down. - Chris
