I have a 2004 wrangler x, and I would like to put a sub in the middle console. I just don't know what I will need or what size sub. I know I will need an amp. I was just wondering if anyone has done this. Thanks for the help!

I've seen several threads on this, but I can't find them right now. If your console has a sub in it already and you have an aftermarket radio, the sub might just need to be hooked up. If you don't have the sub, you can grab an old stock sub box from a member or ebay. SSV Works sells a new box that will allow you put a 10" shallow inside your center console, but you lose almost all of the console.

Some people have run a 6.5 shallow Pyramid sub in the stock box with decent results and others have kept the box, run a nicer Kicker and powered off of a new amp. The Rockford Fosgate PBR300x1 or PBR500x1 seem to be a favorite around here due to their small size.

Honestly, it varies on personal preference and how much you want to spend. Hope this helps.

Searching the forums will provide you with tons of good ideas and how-to's.

First off you have not said what you have to start with. Stock head unit? Speakers? Sub at all in console?

The stock sub/amp is not worth it. You can find them on ebay every so often but they go for a lot. There are threads to build a wood box to fit into the center console.

You are much better off getting a powered sub enclosure that you can locate under a seat. There are a number of them out there. I have a Kenwood SW10 in the TJ and a Sound Ordnance B-8PTD
in my Mustand, bot driven by the same head unit. The Sound Ordinance does have much better bass.

I got a factory sub and box with amp and a section of the factory harness from a local junkyard for $40. The sub didn't last long due to being weathered at the junkyard. I replace it with a 6.5 Bose I got off ebay from speakergeek for $20. Could not be happier with the sound for such a limited space.
