swapping out the ax15

My ax15 is on its last leg. I changed the fluid last week(hoping to improve the grind) and when it poured out there was more pieces of brass coming out then there was fluid Im thinking about putting the 3 speed auto tranny (rh32 I believe) that came stock in the tj. I tracked down down a tranny from a local junkyard with a 60 day warranty for $450. Is the length the same? If so I assume I can reuse both my front and rear driveshafts.
Im currently running 33x12.50s with the stock 3.07 gears. How much of an affect will the auto have on my drivability with the 3.07s still in place.

Thanks in advance,
Bob

Thats good to know. As it is I rarely use 5th gear and it looks like the 4th gear ratio in the ax15 is very close the the 3rd gear in the auto. I was more worried about taking off from a stop or climbing offroad.
