Alright so I just recently went back to a jeep from a truck. It appears that the original owner had the sway bar connectors removed when it was lifted and stuff. When I say connectors I mean where the sway bar rods? connect to the frame. I have found where teraflex makes a product that I believe is the fix to my issue but I wanted to see if there was any other option besides getting a good welder to just fab me something on there so I can run a sway bar again.
Unless the PO did some fabrication to the stock mounting points, you can just get the stock swaybar, mounts, and hardware at a salvage yard or even eBay. You just have to get the right length end links for your size lift for which I would recommend disconnects.
What is your "issue"? Is it just that the Jeep doesn't have a sway bar or is it a ride quality concern? The previous owner may have removed the sway bar for some specific dynamic purpose based on the modification he made. If it doesn't have a handling issue I'd just leave it as is.
I can't think of any "dynamic purpose" out there that would justify it not being super sketchy in a emergency stop/swerve situation on the highway. If it is a dedicated offroad rig that never sees traffic, then it would be less of a concern.
if the ride quality is bad...i would go stock sway bar with jks quick disconnects if it will be offroaded...and all jeeps should....If the ride is fine I would leave it alone.
Sorry. I had all intentions of pics and further explanation but work got busy then it was straight to bed when I got off this morning... To try and follow up with the replies I've read. Yes the PO did some fab work to make it mainly a trail rig and in doing so the tab on the axle where the would be diconnects would attach to the axle have been shaved off. And yes I plan on putting either the Antirock or the swaylock on soon because the body roll is too much for driving out of town... I am mainly wondering if anyone knows of a company that makes an after market weld on tab where there used to be(pic with finger pointing) Hopefully the pics will help
