Switches.

I bought two kc hiliters off craigslist, but they didnt come with any wiring. I have them all hooked up, but now i need a switch. I was wondering if i could install one of these Daystar KU80011 - Daystar Rocker Switch - Quadratec into the group of switches under my radio? I have the three stock switches in there now, but it looks like there is another spot for a switch. Has anyone done this? Thanks!

I'm sure you can...just make sure it's the right size switch for that empty spot.

I bought some PIAA 540 fog lamps with their harness. I tossed their switch and put in this one that I got on ebay.
Jeep TJ Wrangler 1997-02 Rocker Switch lights Winch Air:eBay Motors (item 220501734846 end time Nov-06-09 20:54:48 PST)
It fit just as promised and while not as clean as the OEM switch, it worked out just fine.

You need to install a wiring harness that uses a relay to control those KC driving lights. They draw way too much current for a simple switch like that and its internal contacts would fry. All the major driving light manufacturers like KC have prewired wiring harnesses that have the required relay, switch, wiring etc. already put together to make installation very simple.

Think of a relay as a heavy duty switch that is remote controlled by a light duty switch you mount inside the passenger compartment. Don't make the mistake of thinking you can get away with just wiring in a switch. Plus you'll get full brightness out of the new KC lights from using such a wiring harness, you would not with normal wiring that is typically too undersized.

P.S. KC's part number for the recommended wiring harness is 6315 like at Amazon.com: KC Hilites 6315 Deluxe Wiring Harness with 40 Amp Relay and Switch: Automotive
