Question SYE questions

Does anyone know how hard it is to install a SYE? I'm thinking about getting one since I have some vibes after I put on my lift. Are they all the same or is one better than another? Where is the best place to get the SYE and new drive shaft? Sorry for all the questions but I'm not sure where else I could find these answers.

A SYE can be a tricky install if you aren't mechanically inclined since the tcase needs to go back the way it came off. It does require some larger sockets to get the yokes off. I've installed close to 10 SYE's and have never had a problem so if you have the proper tools it won't be difficult. If you want a good place to get both you can check out DPGOFFROAD.COM They custom make shafts at a good price and can get you the Advanced Adapters SYE at a good price. Have you thought about some adjustable control arms to adjust your pinion??

If you do it just pull the t-case out it can be done with it in but imo its a lot harder.

SYE's not too hard to install, but several special pullers and snap ring pliers needed. A lot easier to do outside of the truck. I run the jb conversions super short SYE and it give you 3" more driveline length than a standard SYE and it seems to be the most solidly built out of the bunch. I found a kit with a tom woods custom shaft, jb SYE kit, shipped to my door for $500 on ebay. Just shop around. The instructions provided with the kit are very detailed, so if you read through them and don't feel comfortable, take it to a shop.

Thanks for the help. I have to talk my wife into letting me spend another $500 or so. She said I reached my limit after I bought my lift and all my new toys to go a long with it.

I installed my SYE with the t-case in the vehicle - other than some stupid manufacturing defects I had to deal with, it was a piece of cake and took about three hours once I had all the driveshafts and skids off.
