Tail gate hinge pin

Are the pins replaceable as the PO had a 33" tire mounted to the tail gate and the top pin is worn and sloppy.
If not replaceable any quick fixes.

Thanks
Ken

You have to buy the complete hinge replacements. Quadratec and 4wd both sell them. Might want to look at a swing out bumper or reinforced tire holder to avoid damaging the new hinges once you get them. Also be careful when trying to remove the hex head bolts to remove the hinges they are very easily stripped.

Note, if you did not, you have to make sure the rubber bumper on the rear are tight against the tire. Depending on the rim backspacing you probably have to add to the bumpers to space them out. The bouncing around will wear things out. I have had a 33x12.5 for 5 years on the tailgate.

Thanks for the replies. I don't have a spare as the PO said someone stole his full size spare with matching rim when he was at a movie. I just wanted to get the slop out of the tailgate so I guess I need a new hinge.

Thanks again

Depending on how far off it is you can make some minor adjustments by loosening the hinge bolts and lifting the tailgate up the retightening. Easy way to tell if the hinges are shot is to put your hand under the pin and if you get any greasy residue on your finger they are blown out. Good luck.
