Tcase linkage solution??

Just installed the 3" lift and left the 1" BL on for the time being to see if I liked it. Had to do the tcase drop due to vibes which are now gone. Problem is the tcase linkage is stretched to the max. The shifter looks like it's a good bump away from kicking into 4H on its own, not to mention trouble staying in 4L. I already have a linkage drop bracket on there that came with the BL but it's not enough. While getting my alignment at 4WP I questioned them on a solution but they had no answers and basically said I'd have to remove the shifter, cut it, and splice weld an extension on it. Although that may work, it just didn't sound like the best approach. What have any of you guys done to solve this so the shifter works as it should? Thanks.

there is a company called Novak that has a good tcase shifter for NP231. the shifter gets rid of the stock z linkage that is mounted to the tub. I bought it but found it wasn't made for the NP241 in the rubicons. Its possible to get it to work but wouldve been alot of hassle so I returned it.

The people I know who have it in their non-rubicon TJs love it though so you might want to check that Novak company out. They said they are working on a new design for the rubicon np241 and I'll buy that one when it becomes available.

Or you could do a 1" motor mount lift... it would most likely correct or better your linkage problem and you could probably get rid of the transfer case drop kit at the same time.

Skyjacker makes a transfer case linkage relocation kit as well. That is what I am using on my Rubicon, and I love it. It eliminates the sloppy rubber body mounts of the stock linkage. Makes it feel like shifting a transmission, works great. I think I bought mine through Quadratec, if I remember correctly.

Thanks guys. I like the idea of eliminating the z-linkage but also like the idea of a difinitive shift feel. Do either of you have any specifics on those parts so I'll know I've found the ones you mentioned? Wasn't sure if there were several to choose from? THANKS!

Just noticed my tcase wont engage. Im going to do the drop linkage right now. When I did the BL, the directions said if installing a mml, I dont need the bracket. I geuss they were wrong.

That's kinda what I was thinking. I've been told ALOT that a MML will eliminate need for linkage bracket. I just don't see how it can be avoided. I reallly like the Novak and Skyjacker brackets listed above. Just hate to spend more damn $$$. With this bracket being a necessity, I don't really see the need for a MML. I know it is supposed to reduce vibes but I've heard from a few people that they still needed a t/c drop. Not sure what to believe anymore and my brain and wallet are getting fried.:zap:

Man, I really thought I had every cost angle covered and addressed on this lift. Forgot about the linkage...Damnit. Every thing I do to this rig requires 3 more things so the first will work right. Damn this disease. BUT, rig is lookin sweet:D so a slight smile accompanies every complaint. And the wife has no idea about the SYE/DS planned for next year:rolleyes:.

Advance Adapters also makes an adapter that takes the shifter off the body. I had to relieve it a bit to fit around the trunion rod, but it works fine and was not expensive and is now independent of the body.
