temp fluctuating????

i went muddin yesterday and afterward i cleaned up the motor and the radiator well on my way back the temp spiked. so i pulled over and checked it out. the back of the radiator was packed full of mud. i missed the backside when i was spraying down. so i got as muchmud off as i could by hand and went to the carwash and housed the backside off real good. i made it home and the whole way the jeep was running about 10 degrees hotter then normal so i thought i missed some mud. i really cleaned up the motor today and went for a drive and on the way home it spiked again almost to the red part but then went back to running 10 degrees warmer then normal.

my question is should i take my radiator out and make sure all the mud and stuff is off of it, replace my water pump or replace my thermastat. i was thinking it was the thermastat.

what do you all think

ps im sticking to the trails lol

I would clean it really well again, this time spray from inside the engine to out..check the fluid level as well.. Also how many miles on the Jeep?
