terminal?

ok, got the cooling system worked out in my 98 4 banger, recently got a new clutch put in. now i have a loud clattering coming from my engine area. oil pressure is good, temp's good, and rpm's are good with no check engine light. its not a knock like a rod but an actual clattering.

lifter noises are quite common, and often no problem. engine oil flushes are a good idea, the ones you just poor in the engine, run for 5 mins, and let drain for a long time, change oil and filter. thats a good first step, make sure no gunk is cloggin things up.

could just be lifters, does it get louder or faster when rpm's go up?

exhaust link sounds kind of "clicky" and will get louder the harder you give it throttle. Get a length of hose (2-3') and put one end in your ear and the other move around the engine until you can tell where its coming from.

just thought of something i probably shouldn't have done and maybe it made a difference. i used a fully synthetic 10w30 last oil change. would that make a difference?

Are you sure you put enough in? Did you check your oil level?

just using synthetic oil won't give you this problem.
