I was doing some tail light work on the kiddo's 2006 TJ this morning. Now the third brake light has not been working for some time, and I have been intending to fix it or get it fixed. I had the right tail light housing removed and noticed the body connectors for the third brake light were dangling loose! I have looked and looked, but how do I find the place where they plug into the body pins? I have been under the jeep by the right rear tire, removed that plastic cover, but I just can't see where the body pins are.
It is the connectors for the body. They are loose. I discovered they were loose when I was fixing the right rear taillight. How do I access where I can get them plugged back in to the pins. Thanks!
If you're dealing with an 03 up, the emissions stuff is in the way. The easiest way is to pull the wheel well liner and go at it that way. The two contacts inside the tailgate on the side of the wheel well just sit in two rubber grommets. If you pull the contacts out of the grommets, you can pull the grommets and feed the wires in from the tire side. After that you can push the contact through the grommet, install the bullet connector and pop it back into the hole. There is no plus or minus, it's just a loop to the light. IIRC
Thanks! I pulled the liner. I can reach up in there and feel the connectors and where they should go, but I can't get them connected. Not enough space to maneuver my hand.
Don't try to connect them from that side. Pull the grommets, push the wires through the holes to someone inside the rig, reconnect them that way and then push the grommets back into the holes from inside the rig.
