Throttle Body Sensor Replacement

Hey all, I have a question:
I had an issue where my jeep almost dying after a highway run speed at stop signs and lundging when coming up the driveway into the garage and getting ready to stop.
Someone told me a new throttle body sensor would remedy gas flow and stop the issue. I placed one in and while I was at it I cleaned every nook and cranny with carb cleaner. I still have the lunging issue and I am now wondering since my accelorator cable seems to have alot of slack in it, is it possible the slack is the issue?
I seached the site and found others had asked about slack cable, but no one answered.
Can the cable be tightened? is this my issue? can the throttle body by put on wrong? the butterfly is closed when the tbs is put on level.
jeep runs great, no issues, except falling on its face at stop lights (doesnt die) and racing slightly when coming up the driveway into the garage.
I have not been out yet to see if the falling on its face thing has stopped since the tbs install, but the driveway racing thing is still there even in a short jaunt around the subdivision. Is it possible the cable is not retracting enough into its sheath, and making the engine run to 1100 rpm right before I stop? any help would be appreciated.

You can get under the hood with the Jeep running and manually push the throttle and tell if your throttle isn't allowing the butterfly to close all the way. I bet its not your throttle cable though unless the "sheath" has gotten crimped somhow. I'd think its one of the sensors on your throttle body. Which one did you replace? There is a Idle Air Control, Throttle Position Sensor and

I had to replace my TPS last week. It would run a bit rough plus lunge and hesitate a bit while driving. But my check engine light came on when the trouble started. It was code P0123 (TPS High Voltage) I replaced it for about $50 bucks and no other issues so far.

I replaced the TPS. You are on to something here, I noticed when I drove it last night, my idle is somewhat erratic at times. I will vary from 700rpm to 1200 rpm just on its own, while sitting at a stoplight. the lunge i talk about seems to actually be revving rpm's. Actually the issue seems to happen more ofter now that I cleaned all the carbon out and replaced the TPS. crazy huh. which sensor , with my issue now, would you suggest replacing next?

What part are you talking about?

I always takethe whole throttle body off and take everything off and clean it thouroughly. Mine gets pretty nasty if I don't do so. I just had the issue you're talking about with the high and erratic idle and it ended up being loose manifold bolts. It may be a challenge to get to all of them but its possible and worth the try. Think all mine were 9/16. Tightened them down and it idles nice and quiet now. Its cheaper to see if you have a vacuum leak before you go and replace another part. If you do end up having to move on to the next new part though, I'd try the IAC.
