thud sound when gas pedal pressed

2006 4.0 4spd auto. Sometimes after I let off the gas,coast, and then re gas it, there's a thud or conk that comes from the rear (I think). Is it my differential or pinion?

No a bad ujoint or dry one tends to screech or squeal. U could try putting grade in it tho to lube it

I was thinking that the pinion or dif could be worn down. I'll check my ujoints,it has 76000k btw
