Does anyone know what size socket weather its a torx or hex socket I need to remove the bolts/screws for those tie downs in the rear? Cant seem to find the right size or type.
They are the small loops that are on the floor that you would tie stuff down to.I can take a pix if I have to.Theres prob 6 or so of them and theres 2 bolts that hole each one down.
Curiosity got the best of me so I went outside and pulled the cover off my Jeep and with a magnifying headband, looked them over. They're not a fastener I can figure out, you have stumped me. Even with an extremely close thick magnifying lens, I don't see anything but a round hole there and neither my metric nor SAE allen wrenches fit, and it's certainly not a torx. If I were to guess, I'd guess those only come out by removing a nut located under the floor. I was too lazy and it's too hot today to get my crawler out to look up from underneath to see if a nut was visible or easily (unlikely) accessible.
I understand Jerry. Thanks everyone for checking and helping. I'll just leave them and just loop a ratchet strap thru them,I'll remove the hook off the strap before I do of coarse.
They are rivets. I just drilled mine out yesterday to allow for flush installation of a storage box I am making. use a short length drill bit and you won't have to worry about hitting anything below. I filled the small holes left with some JB weld to keep water and dust out. The real problem was the bolts holding the seat brackets in. Even after soaking with Kroll for two days did not seem to help. I finally got them out and they appeared to have been installed using some sort of locking cement as each bolt had a small patch of it remaining.
I still wonder what the loops are there for.
Seat/belt brackets are always super loctited from the factory on anything modern I've ever worked on. I haven't had much success with them without using the fire wrench (in fact, why I bought the fire wrench was for some seat belt bolts).
I was thinking this also.Is there enough access to be able to get my hands in there to replace them with small bolts?
