Exclamation Time to go to the shop?

I'm having some issues with my Heep at the moment. It's a 98 Wrangler sport automatic at 108k miles...

When I move from a dead stop warm or cold it feels like I'm moving with very little power and then it will LURCH forward fast like it skipped a couple gears and squeal my rear tires every so often. There is a "spinning" sound & feeling coming from under it right before it catches and lurches forward. It will do this at low speeds and usually coming from a complete stop. I don't have the issue once I get at higher speeds and it does great on the highway. My MPG has dropped heavily into 11/12 mpg range when it used to be 15+. Notice it mostly happens on incline/declines and not on level ground as much.

Second issue is at a dead stop if I turn the wheel left or right while I'm on the brake the Jeep will shutter like it wants to die.

I can almost guarantee in the morning when I back out of the drive way when I shift into drive from reverse it will shutter and die (even shifting slowly). I don't have the issue if I back into the drive way and pull out in drive. My drive way is on a decline also..If I wait a minute before turning it back on it won't have a problem turning over. Before I changed my fuel pump it would struggle to start after it shuttered and died.

It's not throwing codes....any ideas before I have to take it to a shop and empty my pockets having them trying to fix everything?

they could all be related to the trans, and torque converter.
