Tj a/c problem

Hello all, need some help...

My a/c has not worked properly for some time now, until it stopped working altogether recently..
At first it worked at certain speeds, but now I get nothing.. yet you still hear a short "sucked air" sound when you turn it on.
Dealer says I should change the a/c control panel, but i'm not so sure...
I took it apart and all appears to be fine except a slightly melted 3-wire connector right next to the vacuum switch.

Anyone ?
attached a pic of the connector..

Certain speeds could either be the switch or resistor. The vacuum sound you hear is normal. I'd check the relay behind the glovebox & look for melted/bad connection on the back of your A/C-vent selector switch.

First, thanks for the help..
Now quick update, I tried to just reconnect everything back and see what happens..
It started to work again! But the problem seems to be in the fan speed control switch (or blower motor switch), not with the slightly melted electric connector that connects with the vacuum switch.
certain speeds work and then just stop working. When I put some put some pressure on the connector behind it, it goes on and off.
Should I get a new switch ?
And should I replace the resistor too ?

If you can get variable speeds to work on your blower switch then it's most likely the switch itself. If the resistor is bad normally only the highest setting would work.

That's what mine was doing basically...turned out to be the resistor in the blower motor box. Also look at that plug and make any repairs/cleaning necessary. I replaced mine and removed some of the melted plastic from the old resistor board with an exacto knife from the plug connection and fixed the intermittent problem with the high speed only situation. Usually like Powder would have high speed only with a bad resistor board, but the plastic can also melt and make a bad connection.
