TJ Clutch Push Rod Falls Out

Just came home with my 1st wrangler last night (03 v6 sport) and i'm having issues with the clutch push rod falling out if the clutch is lifted too far. I've read all the posts I can find and there doesn't seem to be a definite answer other than replaceing the entire master cylender. Is this a common problem? What kind of clip system holds this rod in and how deep into the master is it? I saw someone had a work around that involved installing a bolt somewhere under the dash that would essentially stop the pedal arm from lifting up too high. Is there any middle ground here?

Thanks,
Rob

Rob pull your master cylinder out and look inside where the rod goes in. There should be a spring clip type star shapped thing in there. It may have bent thus not holding the rod. Easy fix if that is the problem. Usually straighten it and your good. If that is the way jeep does it. Just a suggestion. Also I do believe there may be a set bolt or screw so that the pedal does not move back too far. Look up under the dash.
