This is my first time posting on here but sadly its bad news. This morning I was trying to go to class and my tj would not start for anything unless I gave it gas while the engine was starting, but I would have to keep giving it gas in order for it to stay on, the second I took my foot off thru gas my rpms dropped to 0 and the jeep shut off. I have a 1999 wrangler 2.5L 4cyl manual transmission.
Sounds like a failed or dirty idle air control valve and throttle body or a big vacuum leak.
First check for vacuum leaks, if you don't find any pull your throttle body off and the IAC and clean all the carbon out of everywhere then put it back together and see if it starts with out assistance from your foot.
