Tj hardtop glass doesn't seal???

I just got my 04 rubi today and the rear glass doesn't seem to be sealy tightly. When it's closed you can pull it open about a quarter inch. It has been a few years but I remember my 03 closing tighter. Does anyone else have this problem and could I be missing a piece to the third door or something????

I don't know if you have it or not. But I have a bar that goes across the lower edge of the window opening. Make sure the tips arn't bent. Mine were and the window didn't close all the way, just straightened them out and it was fine.

Any chance at a pic? There was a bar with my softtop, but it didn't look like anything that should work with the hardtop.

I've been meaning to track down this problem myself, wondering if maybe the rubber seal had degraded or something.

If you cant fix it, go to the hardware store and get some weather stripping and seal it up.

Mine did the same. I loosened the tailgate hinges sightly, then tightened them up while pulling the tailgate UP. It only move maybe 3/16", but it did the trick.
If your spare is mounted on the tailgate, you'll probably have to do it every so often.

So I checked the alignment of the gate, and it was fine. In doing so I noticed the window hinge was loose and mis-adjusted. Tightening the window hinge while holding the glass up fixed the problem.

Thanks.

Mine doesn't seem to seal all the way either, but I think the seal needs replacing. The piece of plastic that runs the length of the bottom of the rear hatch's glass has a big split right in the middle and I 'think' is letting rain in. I know that I need a new seal around the tub, and am thinking I need this too... Anyone know where I can get that seal and plastic trim piece?

my original glass sealed better than what i got now.. but it never sealed perfectly.. i mean its a jeep after all.. but i never had ne problems with leaks.. but you could see a slim gap of light shine through on occasions..

my mom broke the rear glass last year and when they replaced it.. the glass that got put on wasnt OEM.. you cant tell but the oem glass has a slight curve to it.. my new glass is completely flat.. now the gap is a lil more noticeable but no leaks still

My back window will not seal on my 2001 Sahara. I don't have the strip that runs along the bottom and can not find it anywhere. I just took in a load of water from the back to the front. I'm hoping it all came from the back window. Two leaks would be a nightmare. Can anyone help with the missing strip on the bottom of the window. Part name, number or somewhere to purchase one. Any help would be appreciated.

You can purchase the rear window strip from the dealer for about $80 but just the rubber seal as for the plastic piece the rubber sticks to only comes with new rear glass. My plastic piece has a chunk broken off. I tried replacing just the seal but basically spent $80 for nothing. The dealer said to get the plastic piece replaced I have to buy a whole new window. I don't remember how much they wanted but I know it was enough to make me just deal with a little water for now.
