TJ Hardtop Problem HELP

Hey, I have a TJ wrangler 2000 Sport. I recently bought a hardtop off of a 05 rubicon. Now im wondering what I have to do to get the rear wiper and defrost to work? I called the dealership and they want $500+ to install another washer fluid compartment, pump, switch, harness, running tubes to the back. I was curious if there is a way to just buy a harness and switch so it just runs the wiper and defrost without the washer fluid, its not like ive needed the fluid before so no harm in not having it.... please help
jesse

You can buy the wiring harness, dash switch, washer bottle, and second pump as a kit from the dealer. It only takes an hour to install, I did it years ago when I bought a hardtop for my TJ.

Will the dealership have harnesses to fit a TJ to a rubicon? Cuz when i talked to them they said somethign about splicing the wires and they wouldnt recommend it. Is it fairly easy to install by yourself? and would i even need to do the washer bottle and pump or do you think i could just buy the harness and switch? sorry i just bought the jeep so pretty new at all this. but thanks

There's no difference between a TJ and a Rubicon where its wiring is concerned and there's no wire splicing whatsoever. They just want you to pay them to install it.

The only problem I think you might have is that where the harness plugs in on the hard top will be different than the plug on the wiring harness for the 2000 model. I have been there and ended up getting two harnsses and splicing the two together. We put a 2005 rubicon top on a 2000.

Jerry It's the plug on the hard top end. Some time after 2000 they changed the plug and it is different on that end so you have to splice the newer plug onto the hard top end. Every thing works you just have to buy two harnesses

ok sorry for the redundancies. but i need to ask the dealership for the hardtop kit (wiper fluid bottle, tubes, pumps, switch, wiring harness) for a 2000 TJ as well as buy an extra harness to splice? ha and thanks but I live in Littleton and/or Boulder Colorado... and the install takes about an hour for all that?
thanks

Jeepsareus and Quadratec sell the wiring kits. There is also a a pigtail adaptor for changing hard top plugs. The top plugs changed 02-03. I installed the kit in my 03. The one thing I do not know is if the under dash connections are the same. There are different kits for the years but is the only difference the hard top connection and you can just use the kit for the top year or you have to get the kit for the Jeep year and use the hard top adaptor? Call jeepsareus or Quadratec and find out the answer.
