TJ headlights

What are your suggestions for headlights? Tired of being basically blind at night in my TJ

I got the deltas from 4wheelparts, not sure what model, but they were 115ish, and supposedly a step up from the kc's that were a few bucks cheaper (might of been a sales tactic, idk) but I'm totally content with mine, they have a pretty sweet blue tint to them too, not ricer looking, but very clean and add some appeal to the jeep at night. For me, I'm totally satisfied with te headlights, they're super bright, the work well, and they were moderately cheap compared to those $600 led headlights.

I have the delta ones as well. I was pleased with how much better they light up the road. Mine also have an integrated turn signal in the headlight (I never hooked it up for the signal so I can't speak for the usefulness of that) For the $115 +\- it was definitely worth it and definitely makes driving at night 100x better. I recommend the deltas.

I used the hella e-codes about $75.00 for the pair, I also upgraded my wiring with relays for about another $75.00 and a couple of hours running the new wires I then upgraded the 55/60 watt bulbs to 55/100 watt bulbs and I am definitely no longer blind at night

Your link only takes you to the vehicle selection for all lights. If you are referring to the 289 lights, that is for a single light Sold individually. 4wheel sells the pair for 489. Ebay has the lowest prices. I just bought mine on ebay for 336

Hey the JW Speaker pair go for 7-800.

I have the Truck Lite LED's on my TJ, they are awesome. They literally drop right in as a direct replacement for your factory head lamps. No wiring mess. No modifications needed. I picked mine up from the local Napa at commercial discounted price for $320 for the pair. By far the best money I have ever spent.

The stock headlights on my TJ are really good. If I need more lights, my brights work good too, and my stock fog lights. Maybe you have power issues, and not a headlight specific issue. Heck, I have a light bar too, and if I am off road, it lights up the world.

Hella E-Codes (55W) are an inexpensive upgrade (,$100) and a huge improvement over the stock sealed beam headlights.

When I want a serious amount of light I just flip on my 50" LED bar & light up the whole neighborhood!

no doubt the truck lite leds are fantastic but very pricey and I hear they have problems in snow country they don't heat up enough to melt the snow that sticks to them while driving, no personal experience on this just what iv'e heard I can say the led top lights we run on our municipal snow plows have this problem, we have to stop and clear them frequently during plowing operations.

Are you certain that they are stock? My original sealed beams weren't so good. Hella e-code units are many times better.

$33 bucks for the pair free shipping and includes bulbs. Plug and play. I put these on and made a big difference over stock.

I'm positive. I've owned my TJ since it came from the factory. Unless, the factory gave me special headlamps, which I doubt. Heck, who knows, everyone seems to think that I have an utopian Jeep anyway. lol.

First I would aim them as best as you can. Google search it or do something like THIS or THIS. Then look to upgrades and be sure not to upgrade wattage beyond your factory wiring harness capabilities. Generally, stick with 60/55w range to be sure your factory wiring is up to it. If you are going to stay with sealed beam or new housings with halogen type bulbs, upgrade the wiring. If you are going to save for LEDs, forget the wiring since they draw less power.

Additional JP Reading on "old school" bulbs.

Even more reading on LEDs tests (no wiring conversion needed on a TJ)

FYI- Your "better" price for the Truck-Lites is only for one, the ebay price was for the pair.

I have a 1998 TJ, I have replaced my headlamps twice. Bought them on ebay, so I have no idea what "brand" they are. The second set I ordered had fake halos. Got three kids, they always want to eat, so no outrageous headlamps for me. They came with 2, 194 peanut bulbs in each headlamp, one in top, one in bottom, to illuminate the rings. The rings are not really inside the headlamp like a real halo, but more on the outter portion of the headlamp. Now I've had the blue LED's in my dash for several years, so I thought, I wonder what LED's would look like in the headlamps? Turns out That they look like real halos now. Also have blue headlamp bulbs.
One of the best mods that you can do to your headlamps though is adding a 12 volt relay to them. You will get much more power to the bulbs than the stock wiring, it is extremely easy, and pretty inexpensive.

I ordered a set of HELLA replacements from amazon here:

Amazon.com: Hella 7" Round E Code H4 Halogen Replacement Headlight Kit with Standard 60/55W H4 Bulbs: Automotive

This seller does not have it in stock, but this is what you want. Direct bolt in replacement, no wiring changes to be made and a tremendous improvement over the stock sealed beams. One of the best mods I've made.

I have IPF's now, very happy with them. I have had CieBie's (lens seem to be thinner than other 2), Hellas , even HID's (not worth the money IMO) I would rewire with relays if you use anything more than stock wattage bulbs. To much current tends to fry headlight switches. You could just try a set of Sylvania Xtravisions 12.99 ea. Good luck.

you only have too upgrade your wiring if you run higher wattage bulbs but upgrading your wiring will improve even your stock headlights its a voltage thing the stock wiring is small gauge and a long run, by upgrading to relays and heavier wire you get more voltage to the bulbs which makes them brighter

I hope you like them. They are sealed beam, probably not as good as stock, but have the little "angle eye" "halo" thing in what appears to be little led's. I seriously hope those work out for you.
