TJ rear drum brakes return spring broke

Well I didn't listen to the Jeep gods and look at the brakes sooner. I had gotten a loud screeching noise of metal on metal right after a large mud hole.
Did i check? Well no I just did the brakes 1000 miles ago. Thought it was mud or a small rock. No I pulled the brakes off at Jeep where I work, and found the return spring was toast. My advise get the hardware kit for your brakes as these have the all the springs in it. My Jeep only has 58000 miles of use since 2000 when i bought it. Just a safety reminder not to preach. Good thing i only went 50 or so miles since I started hearing it.
