I have aquired a set of Rubicon take off springs to install on my 99 Wrangler along with new bump stops. Swapping springs looks straight forward but I have not done it. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Are they TJ Rubi springs? If so, it is very straight forward. I just swapped my springs last friday. I would spray everything down with some Kroil prior to starting, it makes the bolts come out very easily. I used a pneumatic spring compressor that a friend has that made the job cake, less than an hour, the swap was done.

Make sure you unbolt the bottom shock bolt and the axles should flex enough. I had to stand on the axle to flex it enough to get them in on one side...a friend is helpful for this job. I highly recommend a spring compressor though, it makes it easier for sure, but be very careful because the springs will be under alot of tension and stuff can go bad quickly if you are not paying attention.

Finally got around to swapping the springs. The job itself was easy, especially the front. The rear Rubicon springs measure about .075" larger in diameter than stock. The front measured the same and I do not see any height difference in the front. I think it is going to work out well for hauling my dirt bike on the hitch rack and for when I get a hard top this summer. I may investigate a thicker spacer for the front, maybe 3/4" would be perfect.
