TJ start problem

Just got a 97 TJ 4cyl Nov 3. Took it for a short ride a week later, it has been parked in heated garage since. I have gotten new tires and rims, needed new fender flairs to cover wheels. On top of that have been remodeling my master bath so have not started the TJ in about 6 weeks. Went to start it today battery was dead, hooked a charger/starter not enough power to do the job. Hooked up jumpers to the Dodge. Jeep would turn over but would not start.Currently on trickle charger. One thing that seemed odd was gauges (gas, battery, oil pressure) do not move while key is in on position. Is that the norm?
Any help would be appreciated

TJ start problem

I don't know how old the battery is, connectors look pretty crummy. I have it on charge at the moment. If no better tomorrow time for new battery and terminals
