TJ starting problems?

Hi new to the forum. My 97 tj 2.5L 4 cyl had a problem starting yesterday. I started it up at my house with no problem and drove to the store (3 minute trip) when I came out of the store it wouldn't turn on. Dash and radio came on but the engine wouldn't start. I did eventually get it started by holding the key over until it finally decided to start. What is causing this? Had spark plugs, dist cap/rotor replaced last month and had a new water pump/belt installed 4 days ago. It kinda seemed to me like the engine had flooded, but I can't be sure. And this morning I made the same trip to the store and when I came out it had the exact same problem. Help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Was the starter cranking the engine and it just wouldn't start? Or did nothing happen when you turned the key?

I can't really help you with an odd sensor, the same thing happened to mine once, like you only when I drove it for a short distance. Only happened one time do I never tried to track it down. It seemed like a fuel issue to me also.

Try cleaning your IAC, it doesn't cost anything and just might work.
