Thanks. That helped a lot!
I`m looking for a Wrangler at the time, but still can`t decide which one will fit me more...

i have an 02 sahara 5 spd manual, so i have the NV3550. i am think about replacing it with the 6 spd. so the I/O splines match, will it simply bolt in place without any mods?

so on a 98 tj 5spd manual 2.5l it has the ax-5 tranny. can an I6 motor bolt right up to the ax-5 or do you have to have an ax-15?

The ax-5 will NOT bolt up to an I6. You have to get the ax-15 or other I6 tranny. Also your t-case won't work with a I6 transmission. The spline count on the input shafts are different.(21 vs 23)

I looked but didn't see an answer. If you have a 97-99 with the ax-15 can you switch to the nv3550 manual transmission, and also use a 241J Rock Trac T-case from a 03-06 Rubicon?

The NV3550 is a pretty easy swap and the 241J t-case will bolt up but you will need to do some fabricating on the t-case skidplate to make it work.

Don't forget that the Rubi transfer case uses an electronic speedo and not the gear driven speedo found in the 231.

I have an 00 TJ sahara, it has the 32rh auto trans. anyone ever swapped the 3speed 32rh for the 4speed 42rle? if so what did ya think of it. I'm starting to have hickups with my trans and rather than taking it down to rebuild it, I may want to swap it out.
Hell maybe i'll go find a 05-06 CRD liberty diesel and just drop that farging bastage in there. the way gas is going...

Have the 32RH rebuilt as its a much better transmission than the 42RLE that is plagued with issues. but from what I read you would have to do a complete motor/tranny swap because the 42rle is heavily integrated with the PCM.

if you think your 32RH has problems, wait till you see the 42RLE.

isn't the bell housing bolt pattern different between the 4.0L and the 2.8L VM Motori?

if you want a 4-speed, look into the AW4...thats a moderately popular swap...

On second thought how many miles does you jeep have on it? I might want to swap you motors and trannies, because I am sick of chasing gremlins in my 42RLE

Also trying to find a 30rh tranny setup for my Jeep right now its man tranny and my wife cannot drive it to save her life so im going to need to swap to an automatic anyone looking for a man tranny to swap with me or sell and automatic with all the parts?

This is only true with the newer 2.4L in the 2003+ not the 2.5L I4

The 30RH will work for you though.

I have a 2004 TJ SE with a 2.4L. So that means I have a NV1500. I want to put a 6 speed in it. Will the NSG370 bolt up to the 2.4L? also how is the reliability on the NV1500 trans? I really like how much lower the gears are in the NSG370 especially the 1st gear. Also would the weight difference negate the option to swap the trans?

05 Rubicon NSG370 -6spd. Approx 35k miles.
Reverse hard to get into. It'll go if I keep trying & double clutch a few times.
Fluid changed to synth. Talked w/ trans. Guy in Presc't valley - says it's chronic & about $2k+/- to fix. Any bodyelse? Can I change to NV3550?
Thnx!

For 2k get a new trans

Edit: And yes you could put in a NV3550 but I personally would rather have the 4.46 first gear and 6 total gears

Simple response to the answer.....damn it
I'd LOVE to have ANYTHING to replace the 3 speed auto, without having to rip the entire thing apart
