TJ water pump

I just bought a 98 TJ with the 4.0 and I love it. But yesterday Coolant started blasting out of the front of motor just behind the fan. It is not the radiator or the hoses and suspect the water pump.
Looking for some hints when changing it, does not seem to bad but if anyone has some gotcha's or things to watch for, would be great?

I changed mine on my 97 last fall,not a bad job.Theres a weep hole in the pump body casting that leaks coolant when the pump seal goes.It will leak down on the lower hose.You unbolt the fan/pully and remove,this makes room to get the pump off with the radiater in place.Make sure you clean up the block mating surface good.Also a good time to flush out the block and heater core while the pumps out.

I'm about to do it too. Maybe.. all of us water pump needers need to get together and actually do the job.. I have had my replacement water pump for some time now haha

I've had mine in the box with the gasket and glue for over a year.. it only spits out fluid about once a month.. so I've been lazy.

I noticed a bit of antifreeze on my lower radiator hose just the other day.

Wait!!!! DO NOT GET AN AUTOZONE WATER PUMP. I know they have lifetime warranties and stuff like that, but they are really garbage. You will only get 50-70k out of the pumps. I want to say I purchased a Federal Mogul one that still ran strong after 200,000 miles. I will check into that an get back. Better to pay the extra money and do the water pump once. Jerry Bransford I know would back me up on this one.

I can't get the fan nut off. I'm turning it counter-clock wise as I face the front of the Jeep. Anybody have trouble with this? The whole fan/clutch assembly just turns when I turn.

so their are four nuts holding my fan on romved those and fan came free, not sure what to remove next as there is not a way to remove next part. Help!

Hi,
I know this thread is a month old but I'm about to either take mine to get done and pay $200+ or do it myself. Does my AC pump or alternator need to come out to get the pump off? And what about the radiator shroud?
