Get a set that goes all the way up to T-55 which is the largest torx used on our TJs. All the torx bolts our TJs use end in a 0 or 5 so it's not a T47. If the T45 was too small, it's a T50. I no longer have that bolt on my TJ or I'd confirm its size for you.

+1 on just forking out the money for a good set of Torx bits up to T55. Those stupid things are all over our beloved jeeps in all kinds of different size.

thanks for the comments, hmm weird mine is not a t55. i have a t55 bit and its way too big. i bought a t45 and the teeth broke cuz it was too small, bought a t47 and its pretty snug but that bolt is pretty much welded right onto the axle mount. i need a torch or a welder to get this thing off.

Today I removed the stock track bars and installed adjustable ones.
Itīs 100% a T55 ona 2006 TJ.

Spray the bold with some WD40 2-3 times a day for some days and it will come loose.

lucky for you, you've got an '06, mines a '97 in maine, where they salt the crap out of the roads. blah rust comes quick up here.

i PB blasted for the last 2 nights... i had a similar issue with my front sway bar bolts and the axle. the pb on that wouldn't even penetrate it. it took some serious pounting with a flat head and hammer but eventully the bond broke. I tried the same routine with this one, but man o man, this one is stuuuck in there.

I would use an impact wrench.
If PB blaster didnīt work the chance is 50/50 that it will come loose. Otherwise the bolt will break.

Hey guys,

Just bought a 91 YJ and I was reading up on your torx discussion. I bought a T25 - T50 torx set but am having trouble with the Flat Head Torx connecting the track bar to the windshield. Could YJ's have T47's? Think its worth a shot before i start digging up my left handed drill bits?

Thanks,
Scott

I don't know YJs like I know TJs but I would be VERY surprised if any torx bolt size used in a location like that did not end in a 0 or a 5. What you're probably running into is a little paint getting in the way of the torx bit. The torx bits are supposed to fit very snug with no slop whatsoever so if one size is just a little loose, then the next size up is likely the right one and it might need a little bit of a shove to get it to seat into the bolt.

Yep, I know that, which is why I questioned the post in the first place.

i had this problem also ,another chrysler screw up ! if the torx strips out weld a nut to the head and remove ,but beware that their is even more of a chrysler screw up on the nut holding it ! it has a wing on it that bends or breaks off on removal and then if that happens you can't put a wrench in because THEY MADE THE BOLT SIT SO TIGHT AGAINT THE AXLE HOUSING stupid chysler ! now you need a torch , while your at it burn the little lip off the hanger so in the future you can put a wrench on it,it makes life so much easier in the future ,or after you remove the lip split he nut with a chisel, chrysler what a bunch of maroons ! torx how stupid !

The track bar fits between the frame and the axle and that's it. No anti-sway bar or "roll bar" involved.
