Tracing Ignition System Wiring

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone could give me a quick post with a bit of info regarding tracing the wiring for the ignition system - here's what happened today.

I was installing a new set of KC HiLites and while I was running the wires I figured it would be a good time to undo a lot of the craziness that the previous owner did to the electrical system. I pulled the wires for the previous set of fog lights out which were spliced in about 10 places for some reason, a lot of it was connected to an aftermarket anti-theft system that the PO had installed (on a soft top?). I didn't think about the ignition system being routed into the security system until I had already disconnected all of that stuff.

I could probably reconnect it all how it was, but I'd really rather just wire it up the right way and get rid of all of the aftermarket stuff that I'm not using.

On a related topic, has anyone ever put in a hidden toggle switch that controls whether the ignition system has power or not? That'd be a better anti-theft system than an alarm!

Would help if you posted what year, and trans.

But anyhow, if you go here you can look up the wiring harness, and a lot of other things for most Jeeps.

Just plug in your info, and go to the wiring schematics.

For anyone who is searching in the future, here's how I fixed it:

The PO put in a kill-ignition if the alarm is active by using a Bosch relay. He did this by cutting the yellow wire from the ignition switch (starter) and wiring the input of the relay with the dark blue wire (start/run fuses i think) and the output to the starter side of the yellow wire. It was a pretty nasty mess of wiring, but I was able to remove it all by just reconnecting the yellow wire to itself and disconnecting anything else the relay and extra wires were connected to. The only other problem that this caused is that the horn was also wired into the security system so I will have to rewire that.

The factory service manual diagrams for ignition switch wiring were EXTREMELY useful, thanks Shelby! I even bought a digital copy on eBay.
