Talking Tranny Question

Can the Tranny from a 2.5 L 4 bolt up to a 4.0 or 4.2L. Its a three speed

3 speed auto should bolt up to a 4.0 should be a 32rh

there may be a difference in the input shaft spline count though. either call parts guy at the dealer or hopefully someone might know on here

Aren't the auto's on the 2.5 a 30Rh not a 32?

yes the 30RH is in the 2.5L.
but in the FSM i can´t see a difference between the 30RH and 32RH.

I know they are not exactly the same, but do share some of the same parts.

Okay so I've been doing some searching and I can't seem to find what the auto is right now for the 4 cyl. They only used the 30rh from 92-95 in YJ's.

However I do know that Joe has successfully put a 30rh in his 4 cylinder. It also seems they have the same round bolt pattern.

would it make a big diffrence if it was a 30rh or 32rh. what i mean is would a 30 bult up to a 32 or vise versa.

30 is a light duty version and the 32 is a medium duty.

30 holds less fluid but both have the same outputshaft. I cant find info on the input shaft spline count though, i believe that is the main difference

could i chang out the input shaft so it can bolt up to a inline 6. i don't know that much about a auto tranny.
