trans oil

Will deep purple 10w-30 motor oil work for tranny oil change?

i dont think you can.
im researching in that too and the only tranny fluids that people recommend its synthetic MT-90 or equivalent or mopar oil.

Well theres like a 7 page forum on jeep forum as well saying it'd be okay. Your more than welcome to double check me on that though. I dont wanna mess my baby up lol

Oh ok...run a GL-4 75w-90 then. As for the 10w-30 i'll leave that question for someone else...you might be able to swing it though.

What year is your TJ?

It depends on your transmission type and you left all the important details out needed to answer your question... like what model year & transmission type you have. If you have the AX-5 or AX-15, yes you can use a synthetic 10W-30. If you have the NV3550 or NSG370, no.

I have a 97 5 spd (which is ax5 if im not mistaken right?) Ive never changed it before so...
