haha, congrats on the d44 discovery, my first step would be a locker of some sort there, night and day transformation. the 231 t case is a decent case, but i'm on the fence about putting a reduction set in a chain driven case. personally i'd upgrade the case, but you're gonna spend money on a case and gear reduction then.

i'd consider regearing axles and lock the back, and an air or selectable locker out front. make sure you learn how and when to use it up front if its a daily driver.

yeah it was crazy weekend in harlan kentucky..that is one tough park..
i didn't know i had a 44 until the one guy was surprised how i went over these rocks and then he looked... good thing cause i was lookn for a used 44 haha

but back on the gears.. I dont think my wallet could handle the new everything...

the way i am set up right now 33's with 5 speed and lockrite up front.. they noticed how much trouble i was with the 4lo and constantly stalling so they were talking about if i wanted to get into this a lil more to look into the 4:1 gear set and lock the rear...

i guess i am trying to build up on a budget...

Go to the junkyard and see if there is a wrecked rubi there. Negotiate the removal and purchase of the NP241 4:1 t-case and the transmission.

Dave, that 3550 or NSG370 will bolt up to his 4.0, right?

97TJAC, you do have the 4 liter, right?

that is a good idea, it seems as though rubi parts are like gold though. hi price tag even used. thats why i like yj's 3550 for sure, but these days anything can be made to bolt to anything anyway.

Yeah, I know. Still should be cheaper than an Atlas or "new".

I'm currently spoiled with front/rear D44's with lockers, but the BIGGEST difference between my 06 rubi and my old 2000 sport is that 241 transfer case! I almost feel like I'm cheating when I run that thing up or down a waterfall.
