Transfer case link up

Hi there,
I have a 97 TJ SE 2.5 and I seem to be having some trouble with the transfer case shift knob linkage coming out all the time. It mainly happens on the trail and leaves me stuck in whatever gear it came out in. It's not hard to hammer it back in but it's annoying and I get muddy or dirty.

So I'm wondering if anyone else is having a similar problem or if anyone knows of any easy fixes.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Check your transfer case mount. It's probably separated allowing the tc to move sideways when under load. Just put some kind of pry bar between the tc skid and the transfer case and gently pry up. If you can lift the transfer case, replace the mount.
