Transfer case question

Doing a bunch of inspections today in the jeep.


How do I check the fluid level on my tcase? 97 2.5L

On my 99 I have 2 allen key plugs (3/8'' or 10mm?) take out the top one and stick your finger in to check color and such...

It's 10mm if its a female hex bolt, otherwise I think it's 33mm or some such for the regular bolt. A Q-tip works for checking fluid color too.
