I recently removed my horrible 3" body lift and replaced it with a RC 3.75" and .75 coil spacers. But the 4x4 linkage is giving issues adjusting and wont go into 2hi and 4hi. Any advice? Also how do the driveline angles look? Ive had the jeep about 4 years and recently started upgrading.
If you removed the body lift, you need to adjust you linkage. loosen the bolt on the linkage that allows the bar to slide free, put the level into 4 low, then manually shift the transfer case into 4 lo. Now tighten the bolt to stop the bar from sliding. look here, skip to page 4. http://s3.amazonaws.com/roughcountry/install/1157.pdf
If you have no body lift and no transfer case drop you will have two issues. With a 3.75" suspension lift, you will need to either install an sye and upper rear adjustable control arms (best way), or a transfer case drop (worst way) to get rid of drive line vibes.
The other issue you're having is now that you have gotten rid of the body lift, you will need to get rid of the drop bracket on your 4x4 shift linkage. It's the plate that hangs straight down from the tunnel bracket that the torque shaft goes in to.
If you opt for a t-case drop for your vibes though, you will most likely find that you need to keep the drop bracket on.
Do you have .75" spacers on top of 3.75" rear springs??
Check for the linkage making contact where it shouldn't. Have someone move the shift while you watch the linkage. You may need to bend it slightly for clearance.
Looks like i may be saying screw the linkage, ive tried it in all positions and still no luck. My question is, do i even need it or can i just take off the extension and put it back in the factory locatio.
