Transfer Case Swap

Hey guys. I found a 97 TJ for sale that I could pick up for relatively cheap. The only problem is the it needs a new transfer case or the current transfer case needs to be rebuilt. How hard is it to swap the transfer case? Does anyone have any experience or possibly a write up? I work as a motorcycle mechanic in my spare time, so I have lots of tools and the mechanical ability to completely disassemble a bike and put it back together. I figure a TC swap wouldnt be to bad. Any tips?

Thanks in advance

im a reasonably handy guy and im about to attempt rebuilding my auto transmission. From what ive seen, rebuilding a transfer case would be much easier. Never been there but i think it can be done.

It's a pretty simple swap, only four bolts hold the transfer case to the rear of the transmission & you would not need to drop the transmission to make the swap.

Just make sure any used 231 transfer case you buy for it came out of a '97 or newer Wrangler with the same engine (4.0L vs. 2.5L) and same type transmission.

If you haven't gotten more out of the insurance company than you deserve, then you haven't screwed them nearly as much as they have been screwing you for the past xx years.
