mine did the same thing. there are bushings where the transfer case linkage meets the linkage bracket and when those wear out it causes it to rattle. go to your local jeep dealership and they have a rebuild kit thats pretty easy to do. you haveta rip up your drivers side carpeting to get to the bolts and you have a couple 10mm bolts that hold it together underneath but it isnt that bad of a chore

Get an aftermarket shift linkage bracket which moves everything off the body and onto the T-case. It will fix all your problems forever!

if the bushing is busted it will still rattle just now it will rattle on the tranny, not the body

Read that.. I had the same problem. You can try tightening the bolts that hold the bronze bushing retainer

back when i got my jeep i had no idea so i went to the stealership.. now that i know what that is, i realize i payed 150 bucks for a 15 bucks in parts and half an hr of labor.

that seems like it eliminates the bronze retainer, the bushing and the boot. Instead of buying one of these, just make my own using a block of plastic. What kinds of tools do you have? If not then yes this should replace the part causing the problem however i cannot guarantee you how durable it will be as this is the first time i'm seeing THIS ^ product.

Exclamation

I bought that jeep. Guess what? The bushing went bad and I had to push it to the shop. I have been waiting almost 2 weeks for that linkage bushing, apparently they are on backorder everywhere. Anybody know of somewhere I can find one? Its my only vehicle.

Ok, so I got to head down and get a look at what bushing they were talking about. It is a piece of rubber. Green. Any details?

Went to the local dealership & ordered the kit today. $36 and it will be here by Wednesday.

Hopefully this will be one noise down and 3 to go.

Hey everyone! My t-case shifter makes an annoying rattle under acceleration in my 2012 JK. I'm thinking this may be the culprit? The dealership thought it was coming from inside the tranny and did a full breakdown / input shaft swap to no avail. Does anyone have any info or know if the above info is the same on the '12? Thanks for any help you can provide!!!
