Transmission and Transfercase leaks

Any one else have an annoying leak appearing on your transfercase skid plate and cant figure out where its coming from?

Well the stealership just told me there are seals on the transmission and transfercase that are rtv'd from the factory, and their time has come...

Good bye next pay-check...

I have seen a wetness around my transfercase but I haven't investigated any further. rtv ehh? Sounds like the accountants said to the engineers find places to save money.

If you plan to fully do all seals, yes the trans case itself separates and is rtv, but all in/out shafts and cable shafts have ring seals.

I bought my 97 this summer and had some leaks. More i looked it was worth it to totally drop the transmission and trans case and replace everything! Cost was very minimal, maybe $40 for ALL seals and rtv. Better than dealership charging $350 (which in their words was bargin).
