Transmission fill plug?

Is the transmissions fill plug the one with the sensor attached or the one on the other side of trans. It's an ax-15.

The AX-15's fill plug is on the driver's side, half-way up. Its drain plug is on the passenger side at the bottom. Don't touch anything with wiring going to it.

I pretty sure it 24 mm if I remember.

I believe you're probably thinking of the transfer case drain/fill bolts. The AX-15's fill bolt needs something like a 13mm wrench but it's been years since I changed the lube in one.

Sweet. Thanx. What exactly is that sensor I'm seeing that looks like a plug.

That is the Reverse light switch, it's not a sensor.

Jerry you've been around automatics too long!!! Just checked and 24mm for transmission fill plug and a 10 hex socket for the transfer case.

As far as the wires going into it..... not sure never had a problem with them. I'd assume it has something to do with the safety. Maybe to keep you from forcing it into first at high speeds and jamin into reverse.

That could be, I just don't recall my AX-15's fill plug wrench size being anywhere near that big. The wires on the passenger side go to the transmission's Reverse light switch.

Ah ha. Well off I go to change fluid. Double check me on this but the ax-15 calls for 10w-30 correct. How much??

Pretty sure ax-15 takes 75W-90 GL3 or GL4 (NOT GL5 or GL5 compatible as stated incorrectly in the manual). If my memory serves me correctly though, 75W-90 is pretty close to the same as 10W-30 so you me be right. I'm sure someone else will chime in and confirm for me.

Jeep dealers started recommending 10W-30 synthetic motor oil for the AX-5 and AX-15 a few years ago. You are right that 10W-30 motor oil is similar in viscosity to 75W-90 gear lube, those two types of lubricant viscosities are just measured differently.

My 2000 manual transmission (AX-15) has inverted plugs instead of normal bolts... I've seen 17mm hex in another thread- is that correct?
