Transmission Leak 99 Wrangler 4.0 Auto

I have a transmission leak coming from the bell housing of my automatic transmission. I assume the seal on the front of the transmission, but I have to pull it enough to remove the torque converter. Question is, what is the best way to do this? I have not worked much on this jeep, other than replacing the exhaust a couple times, they are poor quality and all the seams leak/crack.. anyway, having trouble removing the transfer case and trans linkage to move it, any tips?
Can I bring them down as one, with the skid plate/cross memeber attached, or do I have to remove the cross memeber to remove the linkage? Any tips?
Thanks

The 4.0 is famous for leaks on the rear main seal. Are you sure it is the transmission?

Well, the tranny is the one loosing fluid, on a regular basis, puddle of tranny fluid every night, no significant engine oil leaks. Now that I have the skid plate off, it appears the first case seal on the transfer case also has a bit of a leak, with a very clean area and some fresh drops hanging.

Any tips on the best way to disconnect the transfer case linkage?
