Trouble codes and problems!! Help

Just bought a 1997 4 cylinder 5 spd with 148k. It will start but will not run above 1200rpm and almost dies when you try to do so. I replaced the fuel pump but it did not help. Im getting codes po201-204 which are all injector malfunctions as well as po108 (map circuit high input). PLEASE HELP!

Here is the factory service manual (FSM) for a 97 TJ. Zipped file 75.5MB

I will take down the link tomorrow. I have other FSM manuals in case you have something other than a TJ. Let me know and I will upload it for you.

I got these from a friend so I'm just passing it along. Hope it helps.

I am sure this is a silly question, but did you clear the codes? On 97's and newer disconnecting the battery will not clear codes, you need to use a SCAN tool to clear the PCM memory

You can clear codes by taking both pos and neg cables off battery and holding them together. This clears everything I am told.

You don't have to hold them together (on an 05 TJ). I just took mine off for a few minutes and the codes cleared.

This is supposed to discharge the back up power for your computer when you hold them together.

I know better to post this early in the morning on tech issues...

Taking your word for it that the codes are injectors - shorted to ground. The injectors are constant powered by the ASD relay, and controlled by the ECM/PCM (ground).

First check all your injector connections.

Check the wire harness from the injectors to the ECM/PCM for pinches or rub throughs where the wires may be grounded out.

Swap out the ASD relay with a known good one, like the AC or just buy a new relay.

Check the connections at the ECM/PCM

Possibility that the ECM/PCM is going Tango Uniform.
