Troubles starting

I've been gone for 2 weeks, got back and my Jeep started fine. Drove it back home and turned it off. Went to start it this morning and it seemed like the battery was dead. It was barely turning over but it eventually cranked up. Drove it for 30 minutes to the store and when I came out 15 minutes later, it did the same thing. Is my starter going bad? Or another issue?

Once dead, it takes more than 20 minutes of driving to charge it. In fact, the factory alternator was never intended to recharge dead batteries since the alternator itself needs 12 volts from the battery to even work as well as it needs to for that job.

I'd do two things... physically remove both battery connections and wire brush them and the posts and then securely/tightly reconnect both connections to the battery to eliminate the possibility of a bad connection having anything to do with this. I'd also attach a bench charger to it and let it charge overnight. If you'll do BOTH of those things, odds are it will be fine after that.

One final note... when a standard automotive battery is allowed to go completely dead, it never fully recovers and it'll never hold a charge for as long afterwards as it did before.
