Post Tuffy Security Rear Speaker console tj

Thinking about replacing rear speaker console in my 2005 LJ with Tuffy Security Rear Speaker console (055).

1. Does anybody have interior pictures of Tuffy Security Rear Speaker console (055)?? Cannot find them anywhere and want to visualize the storage space

2. if storage space with Speaker was insufficient, would the console work without speaker and speaker bracket installed providing more storage space? Any pictures of Tuffy Security Rear Speaker console (055)interior installed without speaker?

3. installation involves removal of 3 screws (or bolts??) located underneath the cupholders in front and rear of the factory console (1 under front insert and two under rear). Are those bolts with washers and nuts under the floor that require 2 people to remove or simple screws to be unscrewed easily from the inside of the cab. Cannot see the underbody due to skid plates and dont want to remove screws not being sure that they dont have nuts underneath the floor.

I have the tuffy rear half sub console. Storage is about the same as the stock subconsole. Installing the speaker console without the sub enclosure inside is not going to give you any more storeage. Like the stock subconsole, there is a solid barrier under the lid on top of the sub enclosure area. All the fasteners come out from the top.

Here ya go. I mounted an amp inside there, kicker sub and frankly it works pretty well. Dynamat'd the entire inside of it before installing. Probably have more info/pics somewhere if I dig around.

I posted that in the wee hours this morning. Guess it may be different than your LJ application.

Good pix. Previous post was about meral plate that separates the speaker from consile open space. Picture does not show it. Did you remove the plate? Is it the Rear half Tuffy Speaker Security console? Is it TJ or JK model? Again, appreciate picture and info.

Sorry for the slow reply. I did not use the internal mounting plate you refer too. I fab'd up brackets at floor level to secure the rear half from both sides. It's not as secure of course due to the screws not contained in the locked armrest, but frankly that was no concern for me. This is in my 98 TJ. It's a 2 piece, front and back pieces, but no idea how different it is from newer units.

What kind of storage space are you looking for. We have the Tuffy in both our TJ and our LJ. The LJ has the full console with sub, the TJ just the sub. Enough room for phones, wrench or two, firearm if need be.

I can't remember on the bolts, you can give Tuffy a call. Their tech support is very knowledgeable and can help with what will fit and what won't, what you can remove, etc.
