Turn Signal Relay

I am having an issue with my 99 Wrangler turn signal relay. The switch got wet and now constantly clicks. It stops when I engage the brake, turn signals, or flashers. Can anyone tell me why it does this and/or how to prevent it? Also, I am trying to locate some type of waterproofing for the dash area, since I prefer to leave my top off all summer long. Any ideas?

Clicking signal relay on my '97 Sahara

I just got my '97 Wrangler Sahara a few wks ago, noticed a clicking noise and found it was, just like yours the signal relay.
Got a new one (for $18) at Napa, but it wasn't the problem. I did some troubleshooting but quit after a couple hrs. The previous owner added some hokey looking wiring onto a trailer hitch and that's where I stopped.
This next part is embarrassing to admit, but I ended up extending the wiring and re-locating the clicking relay under the hood on the left-front fender!
When I get more time I'll continue to troubleshoot but at least for now that damned clicking can't be heard
If you like I can email some schematics to you, just write to: mlt503@cox.net.
Good luck
Mark

man am I glad I found this thread. I have been dealing with this issue for months! I just called a mechanic who wanted $45 per half hour just to diagnose the problem and he said it would take at least 2 hours to do so...

my thought was that there was a short, I did find that the previous owner had put the wrong turn signal bulb in. I replaced all bulbs and.... that wasn't it!!

this noise is sooo annoying. i have also found some shody wiring done in my jeep, the previous owner had a 10 disk cd player installed. I am now planning on changing that wiring. Should I change the relay switch first? How easy is this??
