U joint

I have a U joint that is out on my 97 Wrangler. How hard is that to replace? Can i do it myself? Or should i take it into the pros?

I think that i have caught it pretty early. The sound is a little bit of a clunk when i have it in 4wd high. Its not too noticeable, but i dont wanna risk any further damage. I work at a car dealership, and one of the guys here used to work for Jeep. So i think im going to let him tackle this one and pay what i gotta pay, unless its fairly simple.

I just had my two front axle u joints replaced, was gonna do it myself but didn't have the tools since the bolts were so rusted it wouldn't come off without cutting out the bolts and replacing with new ones, I was better off paying my mechanic to do it in my opinion...

You need a few tools 12pt 13mm box wrench.. to get the 3 bolts off the rear of the hub/steering arm. Also a 32 mm(not 100% on that one) to get the hub bolt off and of course a lug wrench. The hard part is getting the hub out. Can take some time. As well as the 3 rear bolts, breaker bar helps. The u-joint could be rusted in place as well. Thus it can be done at home, just allow enough Time. I changed one on the trail in about 30 mins. But everything was in good shape to start with.
