U Joint for front axles

I went to an autoparts store with my old front U Joint that is located just behind the hub/bearing assembly for my 2002 Jeep Wrangler Sport and the one they gave me had top clips not C clips that go underneath. I had to get the part from the dealer and it cost's $70 vs $13 from the autopart store. Has anyone else experienced this same problem?

What Ujoint did they give you at the parts store? What you want is a Spicer 760x.

The one they gave me was a precision brand. They couldn't find anything close to the original.

What year is your TJ? I believe the previous Spicer model was 297x and they were used up thru like 02 or so. Napa always carry's the correct Spicer parts when I've needed them.

My TJ is a 2002. We don't have a Napa where I live. I went to Orielly's Auto Parts. I guess I could have checked in Corpus Christi Texas.

i've noticed even the good parts stores around here have trouble giving you the right u joint. but a good parts guy can figure it out if you give him the old one. spicer u joints are great, they last longer than standard aftermarket u joints. you can find spicer in the aftermarket, and its worth the money, but not that much.
