U Joint Question

My Jeep squeeks ALOT, normally I don't care but it has gotten to the point or it making me insane. Especially on the trail, people can probably hear me miles away. The sound is coming from the left side when going over bumps or turning right. I checked control arms, shocks, etc everything seemed OK there, so I am to the conclusion it is the U joint. Your opinion right or wrong? How much to replace it? (I am in paramedic school and have absolutely no time to attempt it myself.) Thanks for any input!

I just replaced one on my yj last week and it was a more metallic sound, kinda like something was rubbing on the backing plate when I would make a turn. My vise was too small to do the replacing so I went to Advanced Auto and rented (you get all your money back when you return the tool) a ball joint/u joint tool set and it worked ok. When I put on my reading glasses it worked better
I still have a squeek in the front but haven't looked to see just what it is. I also greased up everything there was up front while I was working there.
Maybe try spraying some silicon spray on rubber parts up front and see if it will go away???

It could either be the u-joint (replace it with a Spicer 5-760x if it is bad) or the unit-bearing hub going bad.

Squeaking is usually bushings. Make sure you lube all of your fittings on your suspension componets.

No, but one time I was going to get in my jeep and about 5 squirrels ran out from the bottom. They are plotting something, I always see them "frolicking" around my baby.
