Post V8 Conversion


I have a 98 TJ 4 banger standard
i am looking to convert it to a V8
and a build me a nice rig what would
be a good engine to go with and tranny
any advice as to new axles or transfer case
would be greatly appreciated as well

Well the 5.7L Hemi will fit right into the stock motor mounts on the 4 cyl. in a Wrangler. It's just all of the other stuff that you have to move around to make it fit.

i was thinkin more along the lines of a small block 350
something a little cheaper than a hemi and easier
to squeeze in there

Chevy V8s don't work in wranglers.

how is that my buddy has one it seems to run just fine
i just dont want to pay 4500 for a crate engine like he did
i was hopin to find a place to buy rebuilt

Close. TPI was the intake systems before the LT1 which is whats in my junk

The GM 5.3 V8 is a very nice fit in the TJ. The oilpan hangs down a little more than I would like but it should give any problems. As for axles At least a set of 44's under it. I would like to stick a Chrysler 4.7 in my TJ.

www.turnkeyenginesupply.com has some pretty cool packages. they range anywhere from like $5000 to $22000 for "turnkey" engines.

this 5.3L is bascially ready to drop in for $6500....wiring harness, computer, headers, etc.
